Where Shadows Burn
a thriller
by Catherine Hunter

The telephone rings. On the other end is the voice of a loved one … except this loved one is dead.

Kelly, a young costume designer, is devastated by the recent suicide of her husband James, a gifted artist. She struggles to patch her life together again, but is haunted by a series of supernatural events. Disturbing and strange phone calls, the disappearance of her husband's favourite shirt and drawings, fleeting shadows and shapes all serve to drive Kelly to despair and madness.

When a more earthly danger threatens her beloved nephew, Alex, Kelly is galvanized into action, fleeing with the boy to Minneapolis. Posing as Alex's mother, Kelly takes a job as a costume designer on a production of Hamlet. As they settle into their new role as fugitives, the lead actor in the production begins to take an interest in Kelly, threatening her anonymity.

Opening night approaches, and a series of deadly events unfolds. The past finally catches up with Kelly, forcing her to face her own role in the web of secrets that has entrapped her family—and now threatens to kill her and Alex.
