Frederick Wah was born in Swift Current. His father was raised in China, and his mother was a Swedish-born Canadian. Wah was a founding editor of TISH. He has taught at Selkirk College, David Thompson University, and the University of Calgary. Wah has been a contributing editor to Open Letter as well as West Coast Line, and SwiftCurrent mag. Wah won the Governor General's Award for his 1985 book "Waiting for Saskatchewan." In 2011, Wah was appointed as Canada's Parliamentary Poet Laureate.
